Sales Coaching

What is the difference between sales management and coaching?

The distinction is not always evident and after having both coached and been coached; there are distinct differences which are also recognized below.

The problem is that management is often mistaken for coaching, which is tragic.

The most distinctive differences between sales management and coaching:

  • Coaching requires much from both the coach and the person being coached
  • Coaching occurs individually as all sellers are different
  • The regularity is very important
  • The coach is there for the sales rep and not vice versa, which means that focus on target and frequency on activities should not be the primary focus during a coaching session.
  • Coaching works best when conducted by a third party
